Global contract and dispute support at every stage of your project.

International Construction Chambers supports infrastructure, construction and energy projects worldwide, with FIDIC contracts at the core of what we do. We help contractors, employers, funders and consultants keep contracts usable, manage risk early and resolve disputes efficiently.

Counsel

Clear, focused advocacy in complex international disputes.

We get to the heart of the issues in the case that are required to be determined by the dispute resolver. We do not believe in reams and reams of pages of drafting. Our approach is to pinpoint the issues to get the case won.

We act as counsel in Dispute Board, adjudication and arbitration proceedings under ICC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL, AIAC and regional rules, as well as in court where needed. Our work ranges from early case assessment and strategy through to drafting pleadings, preparing witnesses and experts, and conducting hearings in high‑value infrastructure and energy disputes.

We understand how technical evidence, delay analysis and quantum assessments fit together on major projects, so our advocacy stays grounded in how the job was actually built, not just what the contract says. Clients instruct us when they want tightly argued cases that are realistic about risk, cost and settlement opportunities.

OUR COUNSEL SERVICE INCLUDES

Acting for contractors, employers and states in international construction arbitrations.

Running and defending Dispute Board and adjudication proceedings.

Drafting claims, defences and submissions, and preparing witnesses and experts.

Enforcement or challenge of DB decisions and arbitral awards.

Contract Management

Making FIDIC contracts work on live projects.

We help project teams use their contracts as working tools, not just documents on a shelf. That means setting up notices, records and communication routes early, then supporting engineers, contract administrators and commercial managers as issues emerge.

Our lawyers combine deep knowledge of standard forms with practical site experience, so advice is framed around programme, access, design development and delivery pressures. We step in at bid, contract negotiation or during delivery, and can shadow project teams throughout the life of the job.

OUR CONTRACT MANAGEMENT WORK INCLUDES

Reviewing and negotiating FIDIC and bespoke contracts and amendments.

Setting up claim and notice systems, templates and reporting structures.

Supporting engineers and project teams on variations, EOT, price escalation and payment.

Preparing and responding to claims and helping structure commercial settlements.

Dispute Resolvers

Resolving international construction disputes as arbitrators or DB members.

We do not only act as party representatives. Many of our members also sit as neutrals—arbitrators, Dispute Board/DAAB members and mediators—on major international construction and infrastructure disputes. This dual perspective as both counsel and dispute resolver means we understand how to guide counsel to the core issues that need to be determined.

Our dispute resolver team includes Taner Dedezade, Thaya Baskaran, Zuzana Vysudilova and Nina Tsaturova, all listed on the International Construction Arbitrators & Adjudicators (ICAA) panel as international construction arbitrators, reflecting recognised expertise on complex, cross‑border projects.

Taner Dedezade, Nina Tsaturova and José Andres Lama also have particular interest in sitting as both standing and ad-hoc Dispute Board members.

OUR DISPUTE RESOLVING WORK INCLUDES:

Sitting as sole, co‑ and presiding arbitrators in international construction arbitrations.

Serving as standing and ad‑hoc Dispute Board / DAAB members on major projects.

Acting as mediators in high‑value infrastructure, construction and energy disputes.

Dispute Avoidance

Preventing disputes where possible, resolving them when necessary.

We design dispute‑avoidance strategies around the multi‑tiered mechanisms in FIDIC and similar contracts, from engineer’s decisions and standing DAABs/DBs through to amicable settlement and arbitration. The focus is always on keeping works and relationships on track, not simply “winning” a case.

On live projects, we work with project leadership to identify pressure points—ground conditions, design change, access, interface risk, social and environmental obligations—and to address them early. We use innovative solutions that supplement the contract procedures to avoid disputes. Our policy is to only take the client to dispute resolution if avoidance is not possible.

OUR DISPUTE AVOIDANCE WORK INCLUDES:

Project health‑checks and risk reviews at bid, mobilisation and key milestones.

Setting up and using DAABs/DBs effectively, including referrals and responses.

Facilitating negotiations and mediations alongside formal procedures.

Acting in arbitration and related court applications where disputes cannot be settled.

FIDIC Trainers

Training project teams to use FIDIC confidently and consistently.

Members of Chambers deliver FIDIC‑focused training for employers, contractors, engineers and consultants worldwide, drawing on hands‑on experience of disputes and live projects. Sessions are practical and example‑driven, showing how clauses operate under real pressure rather than in theory.

We tailor programmes for boards, in‑house legal, commercial teams and site staff, and can align content with your actual contracts and current projects. Training can be delivered in‑person or online, from introductory overviews to advanced modules on claims, DAABs and arbitration.

OUR FIDIC TRAINING WORK INCLUDES

Contract‑fundamentals workshops for non‑lawyers.

Advanced modules on claims, EOT, variations and risk allocation.

DAAB/DB training, including referrals, procedures and enforcement.

Bespoke sessions built around your live projects and amendments.
